Suture Material

Catgut

Sterile Natural Absorbable Suture composed of purified connective tissue, prepared from firmly twisted strand of intestinal submucosal layers of sheep. They are sterile and elicit only a slight to minimal tissue reaction during absorption by enzymatic hydrolysis and starts losing tensile strength on implantation from 12- 15 days for Catgut Plain and 18-21 days for Catgut Chromic

Black Braided Silk Surgical Suture

A non absorbable, sterile, surgical suture with excellent handling characteristics and knot security. Made from entwined thread from silkworm larva, treated with silicone or wax. The suture elicits an acute inflammatory reaction in tissue, which is followed by a gradual encapsulation Of the Suture by fibrous connective tissue. While silk sutures are not absorbed, progressive degradation of the silk fiber in vivo may result in gradual loss of all of the suture's tensile Strength over time. It is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures.

Coated Polyglycolic Acid Sutures

indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. It elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue and ingrowth of fibrous connective tissue. Progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of suture occurs by means of hydrolysis, where the copolymer degrades to constituents, which are subsequently absorbed and metabolized in the body. Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength followed by a loss of mass.

Monofilament Polyamide Suture

A non absorbable, Sterile, surgical, monofilament suture composed of the long-chain, aliphatic polymers Nylong 6 and Nylong 6.6. It is smooth, possess good tensile strength, easy removal with no tissue adherence smooth and has excellent knot security.

Monofilament Polypropylene Suture

It is a non absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of an crystalline stereo isomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. The suture is pigmented blue to enhance visibility and has excellent tensile strength and reasonable elasticity. Its pliable smooth surface and lack of adherence to tissues makes it an excellent pull-out suture with minimal tissue reaction and no tissue rupture. The suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. It is not absorbed, nor is it subject to degradation or weakening by the action or tissue enzymes.

Coated Poylester Suture

A non-absorbable, braided, sterile, surgical suture composed of Poly (ethylene, terephthalate) with coating that enables smooth tissue passage. The highly adherent coating is a relatively non reactive non absorbable compound which acts as a lubricant to mechanically improve the physical properties of the uncoated suture by improving handling qualities as contrasted to the braided, uncoated fiber.
